Pike’s Peak is one of the highlights of Colorado Springs. Its majestic peak inspired the famous ‘America the Beautiful’ hymn and earned it the title of “America’s Mountain.”

A majority of the deep in the woods secluded feeling cabins that you most likely imagine when you think of a cabin stay are on “the other side of the mountain” from Colorado Springs in areas such as Cascade, Chipita Park, Green Mountain Falls, Woodland Park, Divide, and beyond.

When choosing a rental cabin for your vacation, three hree main considerations are: 1) How far away do you want to be from activities you are interested in? 2) How secluded do you want to be? and 3) Do you want to feel secluded in the mountains with many trees around or are you looking for an open view of Pikes’s Peak and Front Range from your cabin?

Consider if you want to be near the base of Pike’s Peak for activities such as driving Pike’s Peak Highway or fishing at one of the Catamount Reservoirs on the mountain. Mountain views can be found almost anywhere in Colorado Springs.

In the Colorado Springs area, you can find a few cabins north of the Springs in Monument or Black Forest and a few South by Cheyenne Mountain, past the Broadmoor area. Please read our separate post on Airbnb Cabins in Colorado Springs and for couples: Romantic Cabins in Colorado Springs.

Pike’s Peak Mountain is one of two fourteeners in America where you can ride a cog railway to its peak, the other being in Washington state. This makes seeing the incredible view from the top accessible to everyone who isn’t up for that long or intense hike and you can also see it without making the drive yourself.

If you want to be near the Cog Railway, you’ll want to stay near Manitou Springs or Garden of the Gods. This would be a great location for all you want to see in the Colorado Springs area and don’t want to do a lot of driving further out. You’ll be a 15-minute drive to the base of Pike’s Peak and Santa’s Workshop. If this is you, you are in luck with this charming cabin in Manitou:

1. Modern Red Cabin in Manitou Springs

You can also drive up the mountain on Pike’s Peak Highway. However, I caution that you’ll want to be aware of potential altitude sickness if you do and one of the biggest ways to prevent this is to stay hydrated.

There is only one other opportunity to drive up a fourteener in Colorado at Mt. Evans.

If you are looking for a cabin with more woodsy seclusion vibes with views of Pike’s Peak, or looking to be out in the mountains on a larger piece of land those cabins can be found near Divide, and further out and we’ll be listing them further down (14-20).

We’ll start with the best close listings for couples and families and move to more secluded and further away cabins.

Green Mountain Falls is up the road West on Highway 24 from Cascade… this area is historically known as Ute Pass.

There are many cabins in this area nestled up on the base of Pike’s Peak Mountain. You won’t know the difference other than the signs going from Cascade, Chipita-Peak, and Green Mountain Falls.

It gets dark early in this community. The sunset is blocked with tall mountains. If you live in the city or even in the Midwest, it may surprise you how dark it is here. I experienced something similar when I lived in Arizona…. where communities like Scottsdale and Paradise Valley are very dark and there aren’t a lot of street lights.

Although it can be an adjustment if you are used to brighter bigger city lights, it’s the perfect place for star-gazing if you have open space from the trees. This next cabin was inspired by this….

Woodland Park is a charming town with a quaint walkable area along the highway with cute shops, coffee, and restaurants.
